Camp AU Event

[Very late in the week of the AU event, (college!)Cesare has gone in search of (future!)Alvis. Some of the novelty of this strange zombie summer camp has worn off but he remembers her vanship and just how exhilarating that was. Besides, she is company who isn't a) his actual professor or b) his not actual(?) brother. It's a nice clear day. A day for adventure.]

Alvis! You don't have plans, do you? [hope you are okay with this kid confidently inserting himself into them]

Of course. [he takes his phone out, no headphones this time, so when he hits play this comes straight from the speakers]

[Delighted and she claps along as they go]

The other song was in this language too -- it's your country's?

[shakes his head] This is Spanish. My first language is Italian, but my father is from Spain and he spoke it with us.

Ahhhh! How lucky!

It's amazing how people from so many different places can understand one another here. What language do you speak?

This, Glacies, and I can read some of the older texts.

Older texts? Like the classics?

I suppose you could call them that. In Glacies and Ades there are huge libraries and some of the material is very old.

Your counties have different names than the ones I am familiar with. Show me where they are. [switching over to a world map on his phone]

[Awww goodbye music. She frowns at the map and then zooms in, flipping it upside down an pointing to the Mediterranean region]

This is where we supposedly are. [leaving the map reversed for her and pointing to france]

Oh! That's not TOO far... And where did you say you were from?

Here. [zooming in enough on Rome that she can get a sense of the size of the city] Rome.

Ah, it's big! Do you like living in the city?

It can be great fun. There's always something going on. The food in Rome is very good as well--I would be your guide and take you around if you were to visit, to places not listed in the reference books.

[You had her at food. Be still her fluttering GI system!]

That WOULD be fun! I wonder if it's possible... That'd be a really incredible dream then!

[pulling up pictures of now of spaghetti alla puttanesca, gnocchi, gelato...] Maybe if you wish hard enough it will come true. I know I would enjoy your good company, even if it means being a figment of your dream.

Pictures of food! ...What a great idea...

[But then he gets a blush at all of that and she's staring extra hard at the screen] Reality is a funny thing anyway.

That's true, it certainly can be. [if he can make eye contact he's going to but then he relaxes a little and strikes a more casual tone]

I never thought I could end up in a place like this. I don't know about you, but I still feel real even if the rest of this is so strange.

[Patting his arm and then her own, smiling]

Confirmed: real enough.

[Oooo, technology! ...Oh! Hand! She's red right up to the tips of her pointy ears but Alvis doesn't mind it so she goes along happily. Cesare is interesting, good looking, and seems to enjoy adventure too.]

[Scrolling how she's seen him operate the phone and she picks a song purely by how the words look.]

Do you have dances to these songs?

[it's more music like what you might find in a club, for the most part

short laugh] I don't think it's what you have in mind. Most dancing where I am from isn't choreographed unless it's for a formal performance.

...It kind of sounds like my vanship when the engine isn't running quite right...

[playful nudge] Most of what I have on here is to play at parties, so there's quite a lot with a heavy base.
